At the Home Design Group, we love to make our customers’ dream homes into a reality and enjoy nothing more than seeing how much delight the finished product of home improvement can bring to families and home owners across the board. Take a look at our most recent customer showcase where we transformed a traditional farmhouse in the countryside.
This particular project is a recently finished job that we are proud to showcase as it was an exciting one to work on and the finished result is a striking update to a traditional Northern Irish farmhouse located in a picturesque rural area. The owners of this beautiful farmhouse began to notice issues with damp in their home, due to the nature of the old-fashioned stone building. Rising damp in the walls and condensation on the existing windows had begun to cause issues and so they sought some help from damp proofing specialists. After a damp-proofing consultation, the home owners were advised that it was their windows causing the problem and in order to fix the damp issue, a more modern and durable solution was needed. That’s where the Home Design Group stepped in.
Working closely with the owners of the farmhouse, a contemporary black framed window was chosen along with a contrasting white inside view, allowing for a sleek exterior view while keeping indoors bright and welcoming. Their old red door added character to the property and had been there for over 50 years so it was fitting that red remain a feature. A new bold red composite door was installed by our team of expert fitters with attractive Georgian paneled glass. To complete this striking farmhouse update, the owners asked for a traditional half door to replace their old back door. Choosing a half door is in keeping with the traditional style of the farmhouse while the composite design is virtually identical to timber while offering style, durability, security and energy efficiency.
Since the project has been completed, we are delighted to report that the customers are thrilled with their revamped farmhouse and are planning on updating their kitchen for something new and contemporary in the near future. The house is warmer and the damp caused by the old windows and the nature of the house has been drastically improved, making their home far more comfortable, stylish and secure.
We wish Mr and Mrs McMullan all the best and hope they enjoy life in their warmer and stylish new home!
